I'm going for a scan today, I'll write to you on the subway back, I'll tell you about the experience.

I always become sleepy on the nursing bed, the room is dimmed, not too cold. The doctor enters, they usually get my name wrong because my name is my third name and not my first. I never remember their names, so I guess it's fair play.

The procedure begins. Through a sort of speaker sound waves are sent into the body to bounce against different tissues. The tissues sing back echoes of fat, bone, muscle and organ, each with a different tune. A computer listens, translates the song, and draws an image. The whole thing is over quicker than the subway ride getting there.

Bio

Theodor Ander is a Stockholm based sculptor who received his MFA from Konstfack, 2025. His practice is rooted in craft and spans sculpture, collage, and drawing, often bringing large-scale forms into dialogue with handmade details and found objects. Working with a sensitivity to the language of materials, he lets their inherent properties guide the process rather than beginning from a predetermined form. Lives and works in Stockholm.
